As the founder of Baby Name Illustrations, I like to think I have always had artistic talent and a passion for painting and drawing. I started painting pictures for children as a teenager for friends and family.
I trained in art and design for many years and studied at Chelsea college of Art & design, as well as Central St Martins college in London. Ultimately I chose a career in jewellery design after my studies and I have spent the last 10 years managing and designing for an internationally renowned diamond jewellery manufacturer in Hatton Garden London, although I continued to paint in my spare time.
In 2008 after the birth of the 1st of my 2 children, I started to paint personalised paintings for children my work has always had a playful quality and so it seemed a natural progression. At first I painted for family and friends, but I soon realised I had the potential to earn a living doing what I love to do, at the same time as I would be able to be a stay at home mum. It has always been a dream of mine to work for myself doing something I enjoy passionately.
I use water colours paints and water-colour pencils applied to high quality thick water-colour paper which is then mounted. I also work with acrylic on canvases on commission based work.
All my work is individually handmade to order and perfect for little ones to treasure forever. I had always found it difficult to come up with new present ideas for the many children I know and I was always on the lookout for a unique personal gift that parents and children would both love. This is where the inspiration came from. My 3-year-old son loves every painting I do, so if you are looking for a gift for the child who has everything, or something thoughtful for special occasions my paintings are perfect.
